This is how I got rid of acne at home.
What is acne? Acne occurs when the pores of your skin become clogged, most often on the face, neck, back, and chest. No one knows exactly why this happens, but from my research I found out that testosterone plays a part, as does heredity. So it has never been officially proven why it occurs.
I did not know how serious acne was, until I became a victim of the same.
Even in my adolescence stage,I was one of the few lucky people who survived acne, until now,am in my 20’s and I got acne, well,I suspected it was some mtumba (second hand clothing) headband that I got from a mtumba boutique,I bought it because it looked so new (and cute),UN-used and even had that band to show it had never been in use.Funnily, I found it at a time in my life when I really needed one,and it was rare to find one in new boutiques,as I was transitioning from relaxed hair to natural.I had to have it.
I was in Nakuru,Kenya, where my campus is located and in a rush,I wore it that night, and a day later I had acne on my forehead, please so not judge, sometimes we do things without thinking.Like you do not have those moments…mmhh.
Well,I know better now,and am passing the information here too, please under no circumstance should you wear mtumba stuff, without first washing and treating it,especially if it will come close to your face, not even that cute scarf you see, oh so tempting.
On a positive note, glad I got it because I will help out someone out there.
Anyway, acne happened and I had to get rid of it,at first I tried some creams, that we get from over the counter, but those are good after one has tried the home remedy first.I tried this and it worked for me,I hope it helps you too, these are home made remedies.
Below is a photo of my face, before and after acne, gross, I know! But I beat it , you can too.Though it only affected a small section of my face, I had to help anyone with a worse situation out there.
1.Scrub: I started by scrubbing my face .I used the St.Ives Apricot Scrub,in this,I hoped to get rid of dead layer of my skin especially around the affected area.
2.Baking Powder:I would then take baking powder and mix it with a table spoon of cucumber juice,to make a paste and rub in circles on the affected area. This will pinch a little,so do not worry,it is normal,I felt the pinch too.
Make sure you rub enough ,not too much but again do not be too gentle.
This is done to help dry out the pimples.
3.Wash off: Rinse all that off after staying in your face for like 5 minutes.
4.Toothpaste: I would then take tooth paste, about an ounce, preferably white toothpaste, but if other toothpastes work good for you then it is okay. I would smear around the affected area and rub in round circles.
5.Steam: I would boil water, personally,I used a water heater, and when it boiled,I would open the lid,and let the steam hit my affected area with my toothpaste on,and this would help open pores and hence allow air.
6.Aloe Vera: If you cannot access, some of the stuff I have stated, the best and guaranteed product is aloe Vera, this is like a medicine,it is even better web you get it right from the plant itself.
It smells not so good, but it is the best product anyone could ever use.
7.Know your skin type. This is very important, this is because you can oily skin and all you do is apply more and more moisturizer, in this way you adding more oill yet the body is producing enough, this way the oil can clog follicles hence leading to pimples, or acne.I have normal skin, but I was almost turning it into oily skin and be warned, it takes a while to react, but when it does, you will regret it. Avoid regrets, know your skin type and work with it.NOTE;Always wash your face twice everyday, acne can be sometimes be caused by germs and unhealthy foods. And apply some skin cream of your choice to ensure the skin is not dehydrated.
8.Water:Drink plenty of water.Try at least 5 glasses a day.I have embraced the wonders that water does to our bodies, nothing on earth can replace water, love it!
9.Touching your Face: Avoid touching your face too often. Also note that when u get to 21 year old and over you need to start taking better skin care, this is because nature will slow down on taking care of your skin, incorporate a cleanser, toner and moisturizer in your daily skin care, especially face routine, you will never go wrong with this. (I will soon post my night time face care routine,so subscribe to get the notification)
10.Patience: Be patient,my healing process took at least 2 weeks and my skin went back to normal. Some can take a few days,a few weeks or months, depending on the skin type and that why I always say we are different and our bodies react differently to products.
Below is a Photo of my face now.
If you do not see any changes in a week, make sure to consult a doctor to get a good cream,so that you can apply after you are done with this home remedy. The safest I Know is products with benzyl peroxide or salicylic.
My best Wishes!
